Connecting IT decision makers and delivering independent insight, advice and accreditation.
The National Computing Centre (NCC) is an independent membership organisation for IT professionals and is the single largest and most diverse corporate membership body in the UK IT sector. It was founded on 10 June 1966 by the Labour UK Government as an autonomous not-for-profit organisation, in order to encourage the growth of computer usage in the UK and ensure that the necessary education and training was made available.
NCC champions the effective deployment of IT to maximise the competitiveness of its members' business, and serves the corporate, vendor and government communities.
NCC delivers a continuum of services, including independent and impartial advice and support, best practice and standards, personal and professional development, managed service delivery, awareness raising and experience sharing.
These services are designed to support IT and IS professionals, and their teams, throughout their management careers and facilitate operational excellence in the industry.
NCC also provides research reports, high-quality member events and a range of publications including IT Adviser Magazine and NCC Guidelines.
The objective of all of these activities is to provide users with the highest quality of information on a timely basis. The NCC now has nearly 1 million individuals who have used its services and we believe that is a phenomenal endorsement.
“Since the National Computing Centre was founded, information technology has had a profound impact on our day-to-day lives, delivering a wide range of benefits to millions of people. Throughout that time, the NCC has served as a valuable guide to its members and the IT community across the UK. A champion for technology adoption and organisational change, the NCC helps its members use and manage information technology effectively. As a result, the NCC has also played a vital role in the development of the UK economy.”
Bill Gates, chairman, Microsoft
