The National Computing Centre is in the centre of Manchester, North West England. The site is known as the Manchester Technology Centre. See the location map of Manchester city centre and a map of the surrounding motorways; a pdf of both maps is also available.

By rail

Intercity services run from major towns and cities into Manchester Piccadilly Station, from there you can reach us by:

  • Train: to Oxford Road Station, a five-minute journey, followed by a two-minute walk
  • Taxi: five minutes
  • Walking: fifteen minutes
  • Tram (Metrolink): Altrincham tram to St Peter's Square, followed by a ten-minute walk

From Victoria Station, the easiest way to reach NCC is by taxi (fifteen minutes). Alternatively, take the Altrincham tram to St Peter's Square, followed by a ten-minute walk. The nearest tram (Metrolink) stop is St Peter's Square, which a ten-minute walk from NCC.

By air

We are situated within easy reach of Manchester Airport. There is a frequent, direct rail link between the airport and the city centre.

From the North

  • M6 Junction 21a, M62 Junction 10, turn left
  • At M6 Junction 4, turn right onto A446
  • Exit left onto A452
  • Exit left onto A45
  • Turn right onto Sir Henry Parkes Road at the 1st roundabout (Fire Station on right hand side)
  • At the next roundabout turn right onto Charter Avenue
  • At the next roundabout turn left into Mitchell Avenue

From the South

  • M1 Junction 17
  • Exit onto the M45
  • Follow the A45 towards Coventry
  • Leave the A45 at the Phantom Coach public house and follow Charter Avenue (over 1st roundabout)
  • At the 2nd roundabout turn left into Mitchell Avenue
  • At the next roundabout turn right into Westwood Way - see inset below

Coventry station is located on the West Coast Mainline and is a five-minute taxi ride. Please telephone 08457 484950 for more details of train times and operators.

Birmingham International Airport is situated off the M42 (J6) and is a twenty-minute taxi ride.

We are located in Amersham close to the M40.

  • Exit M40 at Junction 2
  • At roundabout turn left onto the A355 (signposted Beaconsfield)
  • At the next roundabout turn left onto the A40 (signposted Beaconsfield, Amersham)
  • At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A355 (signposted Amersham)
  • At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A416 (signposted Berkhamsted)
  • At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A355 (signposted Chesham, Berkhamsted)
  • At the next roundabout turn left onto the A416 (signposted Chesham, Berkhamsted)
  • Under railway bridge and at mini-roundabout turnr right then at mini-roundabout turn left onto Hill Avenue
  • Drive up Hill Avenue, take the first right and immediate left behind the Royal Mail
    sorting office
  • Proceed up the narrow access road until you reach the Cavendish House car park on the left

By rail

Use either the Metropolitan line from Baker Street or the Chiltern Line from Marylebone (approximately 40 minutes), on arrival at Amersham it takes approximately 2 minutes to walk to the offices:

  • As you exit the station, Hill Avenue is immediately ahead of you
  • Continue walking up Hill Avenue past the Royal Mail sorting office until you come to a florists shop on the right-hand side
  • Alongside the shop there is a passageway which opens out into a courtyard. Cavendish House is immediately ahead of you

We are 12 miles from Heathrow Airport, approximately a 20 minute taxi ride.
