Product Information
Selecting and implementing an Intrusion Prevention System
These Technical Guidelines are a concise introduction to selecting and implementing an intrusion prevention system (IPS) and are designed for IT Managers and Business Unit Stakeholders. They highlight the process of procuring, implementing and managing an intrusion prevention system. A ‘must read’ for any organisation considering an IPS, they highlight the benefits and the pitfalls you may encounter on the road from selection to operation.
These Technical Guidelines also provide a lifecycle view of the selection and implementation process for an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS). They start by determining the problem that will be solved by an IPS, review the basic types of IPS, the vendor selection process and outline gotchas and problems seen in IPS implementations. They then go on to explain the basic steps on implementing the IPS, through to ongoing maintenance, modifications and updates throughout the technology lifecycle.
They also present tips on support for daily operations, including planning in scheduled maintenance updates with suggestions on what organisations need to think about when reviewing the value of their system.
